Why Fluency Matters
Fluency is about speaking smoothly without long pauses. Thinking in your native language slows you down. In this lesson, you’ll practice thinking in English and doing short speaking drills to improve fluency.
1. Think in English
Start by mentally narrating your day or simple actions in English:
- Describe what you see around you: “The sky is blue, the trees are green.”
- Talk about your plan: “I will study for 1 hour, then take a break.”
- Express your thoughts: “I feel happy because I finished my tasks.”
🎯 Tip: Don’t translate from your native language—train your brain to form sentences directly in English.
2. Short Speaking Drills
Practice speaking on small topics for 30–60 seconds:
- Talk about your favorite food or hobby
- Describe your room or workspace
- Explain a simple process, e.g., how you make tea
🎯 Tip: Focus on smooth delivery, not perfection. Small sentences are okay; keep talking!
3. Quick Drills for Everyday Practice
Try these daily drills for 5–10 minutes:
- Pick a random object in your room and describe it in English
- Summarize a short video or article aloud
- Ask and answer simple questions with a friend in English
🎯 Tip: Consistency is key. Short daily drills build natural fluency faster than occasional long practice sessions.
Mini Challenge
